Now & Next School is four online sessions on Zoom, two hours each. You join a small group of 10 to 15 parents with children of a similar age, so there's room to talk and share. Sessions are led by trained parent peer facilitators who are raising children with similar experiences, and they bring evidence-based tools to every session. The programme is free for parents and carers anywhere in New Zealand.
You'll have a clearer understanding of your strengths as a parent and how to use them to support your child's goals. You'll have simple tools for setting meaningful, achievable goals at home and at school, and more confidence to work alongside teachers and support teams as an equal partner. You'll come away with a strengths-based vision for your child's future that looks beyond labels and diagnoses, and with connections to other parents who understand.
Every parent also receives three personal reports built from their own reflections during the sessions. The Choice Report captures where your family is starting from. The Wellbeing Report looks at your child's wellbeing and helps you set goals to improve it. The Goal Builder Report sets out where you're heading and how you and your child's teacher will get there together.
Now & Next School is for parents, family members and primary carers of children aged 5 to 12 who are neurodivergent or have ADHD, autism, a learning or cognitive disability, developmental delay or other additional learning needs. It's also for families with concerns about their child's development, with or without a diagnosis.
Built by parents who've been there
Now & Next was founded by Dr Annick Janson, a clinical psychologist whose expertise in positive psychology is joined by her lived experience as the mother of an adult neurodivergent child. The programme has been independently evaluated by the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and has supported families in New Zealand and Australia.
